Description: Carapace pyriform, covered with short setae and long tufts of setae on edge of gastric region and lateral margins. Postorbital lobe flattened at side, protecting eye. Carapace with hepatic spine swollen basally, gastric region swollen with 3 granules, cardiac region with large swollen granule, lateral spine swollen basally with another granule above. Basal antennal article longer than broad, with blunt distal angle and convex edge. Pterygostomial region with 3 granules on outer margin. Cheliped slender, propodus carinate; carpus carinate on margin; merus triangular in cross-section, margins carinate. Pereopods 2–5 covered with setae, with margins of segments carinate.

Biological association: None.

Remarks: First distributional record of genus Tunepugettia Ng, Komai and Sato, 2017 from Indian Ocean; present record extends zoogeographical range westwards.

Distribution: Papua New Guinea and Andaman Sea, India. Depth range: 280–1085 m.
